Drug and arms trafficking gang of Turkish nationals dismantled

The Hellenic Police dismantled a gang of Turks who were trafficking drugs and illegal weapons.
Following relevant information from the National Intelligence Service, the police planned and implemented an operation in Daphne, Porto Rafti and Anavissos, where they located and arrested the 11 members of the gang.

A case was filed against them for the formation of a gang, violation of drug legislation, weapons legislation and money laundering from criminal activities.

According to the police, further investigation revealed that a 25-year-old member of the gang was being prosecuted under a Red Notice by Turkish authorities for a drug trafficking case. The other members, who knew that the 25-year-old was wanted as an international fugitive, were arranging his hiding place, either in houses he was renting or in a luxury hotel.

The gang's profits from the illegal transportation of weapons and drugs, which they imported from Turkey to Greece and then to European countries, were invested in luxury residences and other activities.

The members of the gang were brought before the Athens Prosecutor's Office.
