PM Mitsotakis: There are 12 additional tax reductions in the state budget

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated on Saturday that we are all shocked by the pictures in Valencia and the losses of human lives, in an interview with SKAI TV. He also said that the top priority is the protection of human life. He underlined that in Greece we have the emergency number 112 and today in a meeting with the governor of Attica region it will be examined, among other things, to ensure that Kifissos river will always be clean. "There is planning. It is implemented. We spend over 2 billion euros on civilian protection," he said, noting the need to increase European resources as well.

On the minimum wage he said that it will be 950 euros in 2027 and will have be increased by 50 percent from 2019. This increase, he said, raises the overall wage level in the country, which is his central campaign pledge. "The average wage in my opinion is that it will be over 1,500 euros in 2027. As unemployment decreases, wages increase. The wage trend is very encouraging. It is the best answer to persistent hike in prices.

On collective contracts, he said that we need to increase the percentage of wages determined by collective negotiations.

Regarding the taxes that government intends to reduce, Mitsotakis said that there are 12 additional tax reductions in the state budget.

"When the few steal from the state, this is at the expense of the many. We must fight tax evasion also by using digital technology because digital transactions help us reduce tax evasion, especially in VAT," he noted.

Referring to the Greek-Turkish relations, the premier said that today Greece is stronger than in 2019. "Geopolitically, politically and in defence. Those who worry for the dialogue with our neighbours should give us an alternative. Have we retreated from established positions? I don't see it anywhere. It is my duty to tell the neighbour that revisionism does not lead to a solution. Relations between the two peoples are good. We also heard in the Parliament that we should go to war. Unacceptable positions. Was there any discount on national lines to achieve this good relationship with Turkiye? If we agree to disagree, that doesn't mean we have to be on the brink of war," he stressed.

Asked on the German reparations and the occupation loan, he said that he and the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou set it to the Federal President of Germany "I find that legally it is much more fightable. We can discuss with the Germans and say that we claim it and ask for a solution", he added.
