Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Staikouras on Monday visited Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adilini in order to submit data concerning the state in the country's railway network and provide information on a supplementary lawsuit filed following new incidents involving the railways.
This was Staikouras' second visit to Adilini, following a visit in April for the same reason.
On leaving the Supreme Court, Staikouras said: "I came here today in order to brief and inform. To inform about the progress of two complaints that I had filed in April 2024 and to inform about a third additional complaint filed last week regarding worrying incidents taking place in the Greek railway. Incidents that damage the railway and our country, which raise questions which, in turn, require answers from the authorities."
"I want to make clear that we are working methodically and persistently in every direction to improve and enhance the safety of rail transport and to improve the quality of services. In this effort, games of any kind are not acceptable. We all ought not to be above evaluation, control and implementation of the law," added Staikouras.
