Androulakis: We support Thessaly's efforts for resilient infrastructure

PASOK-KINAL supports Thessaly's effort to acquire the kind of infrastructure that would make it resilient to the repercussions of extreme weather conditions, such as those it experienced in the deadly floods of 2003, underlined opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis in Larissa on Wednesday, after his meeting with regional governor of Thessaly Dimitris Kouretas.
He also noted that "it is a priority for PASOK that there should be a plan for the water resources, with a single water authority which will be under the jurisdiction of the region and the state or the privates"
Androulakis referred to the issue of increased energy costs, claiming that "producers, processors and cooperatives need to have conditions for connecting to renewable energy parks, so that Thessaly's producers have stable energy costs in the next 15 years and are therefore competitive." He also said that "daily, the rates rise to unimaginable heights," adding that "there is no other way, if we want a resistant Thessaly, with perspective and hope".
On his part, Kouretas referred to the progress of the restoration works in the flood-striken areas, underlining that "our contacta with Androulakis are constant and I believe that they will continue in order to have support in the struggle the region is addressing".
Later, Androulakis visited the regional Fire Brigade operation centre.
"Thank you for the battles you fight and we will be by your side. The modernisation of aerial means is important - and I have personally contributed during my term as MEP and rapporteur of the European Civil Protection Mechanism RescEU," he said, while adding that "it is imperative that we invest in prevention".
