Union of the Urban Transport Organization of Thessaloniki on 24-hour strike Wednesday

The Urban Transport Organization of Thessaloniki (OASTh) Union of Workers announced a 24-hour strike set to take place on Wednesday.

In a statement, OASTh management described the strike as "unexpected" and highlighted that it was "decided just a few hours before the inauguration of the OASTh Electric Bus Charging Station, a major and significant project for both the Agency and Thessaloniki."

"The Union's decision to strike stems from what they perceive as the Ministry of Finance's refusal to meet 100% of their demands for a new Collective Labour Agreement with OASTh. It should be noted that the employees' demands are largely met, as they are being offered a 50% increase in benefits compared to the previous Collective Labour Agreement," the statement added.

The union's management also emphasized that "it will take all legal measures to prevent the strike, which will only cause inconvenience to the public, especially on a day when particularly high temperatures are expected."
