Rescuers were in the process of transferring an unresponsive German tourist, 68, from a hard-to-access mountain in Chania on Crete, on Monday.

The man had been reported missing on Sunday night in the mountainous area of Sougia. An overnight operation involving 4 firetrucks and 20 firefighters and emergency team rescuers came from Iraklio to find him. Rescuers traced his cellphone but a drone located him, as he had moved off the path.

He will transferred from there to a Super Puma and a hospital, where it is expected he will be pronounced dead.
