Athens transport organisation OASA to increase night bus network

Transport for Athens (OASA) S.A. on Friday announced an overhaul of its network of night buses to improve services to passengers in the Greek capital, creating a new bus line and extending the existing bus line 790, which will now run to Anthoupoli metro station.
The new 400 bus line running from Karaiskaki Square in Piraeus to Doukissis Plakentias metro station will be launched on Sunday, May 19, and provide public transport services during the night to areas served by metro line 3. Its route will take it via central roads (El. Venizelou Avenue, Iera Odos, Pireos Street, Athinas Street, Stadiou Street, Vassilisis Amalias and Vassilisis Sofias Avenues, Michalakopoulou Street and Mesogion Avenue).
The new bus line will run between midnight and 5:30 in the morning, while on Friday and Saturday nights it will omit the parts of the route going via Ermou and Athinas streets, going via Pireos Street instead.
Similarly, existing night bus lines 500 and 790 cover the areas served by metro lines 1 and 2.
The 790 night bus has since last Monday been extended to reach Anthoupoli station, whereas it previously ended at Agios Antonios station in Peristeri.
Passengers during the night can also use the 24-hour bus routes operating on both week days and at the weekend, which include the bus and trolley lines 040 Piraeus-Syntagma, 11 Ano Patisia - N. Pagrati - N. Elvetia and the express airport buses, or the night buses 500 Piraeus-Kifisia (Platanou Square) and X14 Syntagma-Kifissia (Express).
Metro lines 2 and 3 and trams also run after midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
