President Sakellaropoulou visits 'Maria Tsakos' foundation in Uruguay

President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, as part of her official visit to Uruguay, on Monday visited the "Maria Tsakos" foundation, where she was welcomed by Panagiotis Tsakos and given a presentation of the work done by the foundation.
After a tour of the Greek language classrooms and activity areas and meeting with Greek language teachers and students, Sakellaropoulou addressed the attendees.
"Your foundation, with its great work for the learning of the Greek language and the dissemination of ancient and modern Greek culture, fulfills a national mission by contributing to the strengthening of the feeling of philhellenism that the Uruguayans strongly possesses.
There are many who come every year to this precious cradle of Hellenism to learn our language and culture, our modern music and dances, but also the food of our country.
As you yourself have pointed out, Uruguayans are Greek-lovers and the establishment of the 'Maria Tsakos' foundation is a small gift of this love.
Greece, recognising the work you are doing, provides the teachers for the expatriate community and for the needs of the institution, thus giving your students the opportunity to have contact with professors whose mother tongue is Greek."
