PASOK's Androulakis: Nationally important for Greece to acquire a strong main opposition

PASOK-KINAL's strategic target is "to build our new prosperity on firm foundations, changing the productivity model, making our economy more competitive and resilient in the long run," party leader Nikos Androulakis said in an interview published in 'To Vima' on Sunday.

Androulakis expressed confidence that PASOK will be "on the winners' side" on June 9, election day for the European Parliament, having increased its percentages compared to the previous Euroelections and recent national elections.

"I believe it is a national need for our homeland to acquire a strong and serious main opposition, that will serve as alternative ruling choice in the next national elections. A strong PASOK will be a guarantee for the contemporary center-left to acquire the chance to rule," he

added.
He accused the government of Prime Minister and New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis of "arrogance, lack of punishment, corruption, and lack of empathy". He charged that development today was one sided and based only on tourism, consumption, and real estate, all of them investments that replace Greek ownership in the economy. Development, he claimed, had reached a 'ceiling' and could not bring about conditions for better wages and jobs, especially for younger people.

The PASOK-KINAL leader also said his party had tabled a radically different plan for the use of Recovery Fund resources, "in order to serve the new productivity example we propose, the boosting of the social state and the National Health Service in particular, where we wanted the doubling of available resources and the management of social inequalities."
