Fire breaks out in Lasithi, Crete; one person hospitalized with burns and breathing problems

A fire is in progress in a forest area in Mavros Kolymbos, Lasithi, Crete. According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out shortly before 7 a.m. in a forest area near the village Mavros Kolymbos, while strong winds of 7 to 8 Beaufort were blowing.
A message has been sent via the emergency number 112 to the residents of Mavros Kolymbos, Achlia, Agia Fotia and Galini in order to move away from their village and head towards Koutsouras due to the ongoing forest fire.
In particular, the message said:
"If you are in the areas of Mavros Kolymbos, Achlia, Agia Fotia and Galini, move away towards Koutsoura. Forest fire in your area. Follow the authorities' instructions."
According to information from the Fire Department, a resident of Mavros Kolymbos has been injured and has been hospitalized with burns and breathing problems.
The 74-year-old man had eft the village after the message he received via the emergency number 112, but then returned to Mavros Kolymbos.
A total of 130 firefighters with 6 teams of foot, 27 vehicles and 2 helicopters are operating to extinguish the fire in Mavros Kolymbos.
