Heavy rain, hail and storms as temperatures fall in Greece on Friday

The forecast is for rain and possibly hail in most parts of mainland Greece and many of the Aegean islands on Friday, with the exception of those in the north.
The likelihood of hail is highest at sea and in the island and coastal areas of the central and southwestern Aegean. Rain and storms with a low likelihood of hail are expected in Attica, while low to medium-intensity rainfall is forecast in Thessaloniki. According to the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens, there is a forecast for a Category 3 (significant) regional precipitation index.
Temperatures will fall, not exceeding 16-18C on the mainland and Ionian Sea, 17-19C in the Aegean Sea and 20-22C on the island of Crete.
On Saturday, the more intense phenomena will be mostly confined to northern Greece and Thessaly and in the north, east and southeast Aegean until the afternoon, followed by local and gradually subsiding rain throughout the country. The weather will be improved on Sunday.
Heavy rain and storms fell in many parts of Greece on Thursday evening, with 57 mm of rain recorded at Trikala in Corinth, 52 mm in Pezoula, Karditsa, 46mm in Pertouli, Trikala and 45mm in Kerasia, Pella. Major problems were also reported in the Meteora Municipality, with roads washed away and access to many villages cut off by flooding and debris.
