Seventeen people returning to Greece from Sudan at Elefsina air base on Tuesday morning

Seventeen people (13 Greek nationals and four foreign spouses of Greek nationals), including three children and an injured man who has undergone surgery on his legs, are expected to arrive at the 112 Combat Wing in Elefsina on Tuesday morning, according to reliable sources. They departed from Djibouti on Monday and made their way to Greece via Aswan in Egypt.
A Greek mission led by Deputy Defence Minister Nikos Hardalias landed in a Hellenic Air Force C-27J transport plane at Djibouti airport on Monday, where it was met by Djibouti's Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, the head of the European Union's representation in Djibouti, Sylvie Tabesse, and the Greek Ambassador to Ethiopia, Anna Farou. Hardalias, speaking on behalf of the Greek government, thanked the government of Djibouti for taking good care of and facilitating the Greeks that arrived from Sudan in every way.
Meanwhile, a second mission with a chartered civilian flight (Lifeline) has been initiated at the orders of the Greek government to bring back the second injured Greek, who is on life support and was operated upon in a French military hospital on Monday. His condition is considered serious but stable and he needs further surgery within 48 hours. His teenage son will also board the plane.
