PASOK: PM's 'efficient state... has collapsed in the face of repeated failures'

The governance model that the prime minister dubbed the 'efficient state' has proven to be nothing more than a "PR construct that has collapsed in the face of repeated failures," opposition PASOK-Movement for Change commented on Sunday in response to the prime minister's apology over the Tempi train crash on social media.
"The prime minister, confronted with the growing rage over the unspeakable tragedy, made a departure today from his theory of one person alone being solely responsible and adopted his favourite tactic of superficially changing his positions with the sole aim of a communications management of the negative consequences," PASOK said.
The party urged the prime minister to accept his responsibilities and not "pretend that he will carry the sins of others", adding that the country needs a strong democracy and "not a clutch of cronies who think they can run the country."
