Hellenic Train station master in Larissa brought in for questioning

The Larissa Traffic Police investigating the lethal train collision at Evangelismos near Tempi on Wednesday announced that the Hellenic Train station master in Larissa has been brought in for questioning regarding the causes of the national tragedy, for which the prime minister earlier declared three days of mourning.
Police revealed that he is likely to be placed under arrest once his statement has been taken, as he is considered responsible for the movement of the trains that ended up on the same track heading in opposite directions.
Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos, who was on his way to Larissa accompanying Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is expected to liaise with the heads of the forces investigating the tragic accident.
Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianides remained at the civil protection service's crisis management coordination centre, where together with the leadership of the fire brigade, he was coordinating the actions of the various agencies operating at the accident site.
