Two cases of inciting non-compliance with pandemic measures online to prosecutor

Two cases involving people using the internet and social media to spread fake news about the Covid-19 pandemic and encourage people not to comply with the protection measures agains the virus were sent to a public prosecutor by the Hellenic Police Cybercrime unit on Friday.
Some 20 people in total have been charged with using the internet to spread fake news and incite others to disobedience. The first case involves 15 people that advocated against wearing masks, including in schools, through Facebook pages and groups, while the second concerns a website investigated for spreading fake news and also urging non-compliance with pandemic measures, with a 67-year-old pensioner and another four people identified as administrators of the site.
