PM Mitsotakis visits Crete's quake-stricken areas

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the area of Choudetsi, at the municipality of Archanes Asterousia, in Crete, on Tuesday, at the areas worst affected by Monday's earthquake, measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale.
Earlier on Tuesday the premier returned to Greece from an official visit to France through Heraklion airport. He then made his way to the quake-stricken municipality, which sustained severe damages to its buildings and road network and aftershocks on Tuesday.
Mitsotakis also later visited the older section of the town of Arkalochori, where extensive damages to buildings is also apparent. While there, he spoke with local residents, who expressed their concerns about their situation and asked for the state's support.
New 4.6 Richter aftershock
A new aftershock registered 4.6 on the Richter scale on Crete at 18:13 on Tuesday.
Its epicenter was 1 km south of Arkalochori, in the Minoas Pediada municipality at Heraklion.
After Monday's destructive 5.8 Richter tremor, the area continues to be jolted by aftershocks, some registering as high as 5.4 on the Richter scale.
