A bush fire broke out shortly after 18:00 on Wednesday at the Trilofo area of the Thermi municipality in Thessaloniki, reported the Fire Brigade.

Although the fire is burning through low bush so far, the Fire Brigade said it received several calls about a potential threat to homes scattered in the broader area.

According to the police, a hotel which functions as temporary accommodation for refugee minors was evacuated as a precaution, while Traffic Police closed off traffic towards Trilofos from the intersection at Epanomi.

Some 20 firefighters with 10 fire engines are currently battling the flames.
