Students, teachers protesting at Syntagma Square over draft bill on education

A rally of students and teachers of all levels and trade unions protesting the education draft bill outside Parliament concluded on Thursday evening.
Participants protested the introduction of police units on campuses and minimum grade requirements for university entry, all included in the bill which is due for a plenary vote on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, charges were brought on Thursday against participants in yesterday's protest, when a total of 52 people were arrested during clashes with the police in central Athens.
A criminal prosecution on misdemeanor charges was brought against 23 of the 52 individuals earlier on Thursday; charges include disobedience and resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, and attempted grievous bodily harm.
The 23 offenders were released pending announcement of a trial date.
