Boeotia goes on lockdown for six days following rise of infections

The region of Boeotia (Viotia) will come under more restrictions to control the coronavirus pandemic for six days, following a rise in infections, the Civil Protection authorities said on monday.
Restrictions go in effect at 0600 on Tuesday (Jan. 12) to 0600 on Monday (Jan. 18).
The Central Greece region has shown a spike in infections in the last 7 days, and is ordered by Deputy Civil Protection Minister for Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias to the following restrictions during the above-mentioned time:
- No travelling beyond the region, except for health reasons
- Curfew from 1800 to 0500 within the region, except for working people who will be moving between home and work following permission by their employers
- Suspension of church services
- Suspension of retail store operations
The authorities said that the Central Greece Region would provide food and first need supplies to residents with chronic conditions and financial or physical issues. If need be, help will also be provided by local Fire Department services.
Police will be responsible for ensuring the measures are observed, while data will be re-examined by National Committee of Public Health Protection when it meets regularly on Friday, January 15.
