First batches of coronavirus vaccine arrive in Patras, Larisa and Ioannina

The first doses of the vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 arrived at Patras University Hospital on Monday morning, in a special delivery van escorted by police patrol cars.
Based on the plan, the first vaccinations at the hospital - which is also a Covid-19 referral hospital - will take place on Tuesday. First in line to get the vaccine are the doctors and nursing staff, following by the rest of the healthcare personnel, after which vaccinations will continue in other hospitals as well.
From about mid-January, vaccinations will also begin in health centres.
Not long after, the first doses of the vaccine had also arrived at the Larisa University Hospital, enough for 250 vaccinations that will begin on Tuesday, again for the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.
A total of 40 doses were also sent to Ioannina University Hospital, where they arrived at 13:00 in the afternoon. The vaccinations will begin with the hospital healthcare staff, all of whom will have been given the first dose by January 20 and the second 21 days later.
Special ultra-cold medical freezers have been set up in a specially adapted space in a suburb of Ioannina that will be under 24-hour guard, from where the vaccine will eventually be supplied to all northwestern Greece.
