French police are hunting a gunman who shot and critically injured a Greek Orthodox priest in the French city of Lyon on Saturday, in what police say is a suspected terrorist act.
Father Nikolaos Kakavelakis, 52, was shot at twice, at around 5 pm Greek time, as he was closing the church, said a police source.
In a statement released Saturday, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack and said it will stay in contact with the relevant French authorities.
