62 summer fires between Friday and Saturday; W. Peloponnese ones abating

A total of 62 forest fires were recorded throughout Greece between 19:00 on Friday and the same time Saturday, the Fire Brigade said.
They involved 1,115 firefighters and 426 fire trucks, 24 mountain units on foot, the mobile operations control center, voluntary firefighters and local assistance in the form of water trucks and heavy machinery.
Battling the extensive fire that began on Wednesday and continues burning in several pockets at Kehries, Korinthia prefecture, were as of late Saturday a total of 402 firefighters with 82 fire trucks, 15 mountain units, the mobile control center and other assistance locally and by air.
Two more fires are abating in the Grammatiko of Pyrgos and the Lalas area of Ancient Olympia (both in the western Peloponnese), with efforts continuing to put them out.
Investigations for arson are under way in all three areas.
