Roupakias testifying in court over murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas

Giorgos Roupakias, charged with the murder of rap singer Pavlos Fyssas, 34, in 2013 began testifying in court today, Thursday, before a criminal appeals court.

Roupakias, allegedly a member of the extreme-right Golden Dawn (GD) party, was charged with killing Fyssas overnight on September 17, 2013. The incident led to a series of other prosecutions against members of GD, in an extensive case file that includes charges against party MPs of setting up a criminal organization.

It is the first time that Roupakias testifies publicly before judges and an audience about the murder he committed in Keratsini, Piraeus area. Fyssas pointed him out to police before he died of knife wounds, and Roupakias has admitted to attacking the slain rapper but denied knowing who he was before attacking him.
