Repeat election at Exarchia polling station where ballot box was stolen on July 14

A repeat election will take place on Sunday, July 14 at the 33rd polling station in the district of Exarchia in central Athens, at the 37th Junior School, where a ballot box was stolen after the voting ended, Interior Minister Antonis Roupakiotis announced on Sunday evening.
A group of unknown hooded individuals stormed the polling station on Sunday evening, three minutes before the official end of the electoral process, grabbed one of the ballot boxes and fled. Some 207 voters had managed to cast a vote until the theft, says the ministerial announcement.
The interior minister also noted that the Minister of Citizen Protection Olga Gerovassili and the head of the Greek Police told him the police expected such an incident, while a similar incident had occurred in the 2012 parliamentary elections, in the same area, in a polling station where the electoral process was repeated.
A police operation is now underway to find and arrest those responsible.
