Suspicious envelope sent to Aegean University, Mytilene

Seven people are in the hospital of Mytilene for precautionary reasons after they came in contact with a suspicious envelope that arrived on Wednesday at the Aegean University in Mytilene, Lesvos island. The envelope was sent to the Rector of the University, Chrissi Vitzilakis and was shipped from India.
After the opening of the envelope some of the employees that were present suffered from irritation in the mouth and the nose that later in the day subsided.
Meanwhile, the General Chemical State Laboratory in Athens is examining the content of the envelope. The premises of the University are being examined by a team of experts that arrived late on Wednesday.
The operation of the University of the Aegean in Mytilene, with the decision of the Rectorate authorities yesterday, has been suspended for an indefinite period.
