Greek authorities awaiting coroner's report on asylum-seeker's death in Moria, Migration Min. says
Migration Policy Minister Dimitris Vitsas, in an interview with the radio station 105.5 FM 'Sto Kokkino' on Tuesday, referred to the death of an asylum seeker from Cameroon early on Tuesday in the Moria hotspot.
Vitsas said that authorities are waiting for the coroner's report on the post-mortem examination being held to determine the cause of death.
The minister said that other Moria camp residents had taken the migrant to the camp's health centre from his ISOBOX but, "despite the best efforts of the medical staff in Moria and later at the hospital in Mytilene, they were unable to save him."
Referring to weather conditions in the surrounding area, Vitsas said that meteorologists were not forecasting extreme weather conditions on the islands of the northern Aegean but authorities have nevertheless made all necessary preparations, with the main focus on Samos where there was overcrowding.
