A second wildfire broke put in Achaia near the Monastery of Aghios Mikolaos Spaton on Friday, the fire brigade said, noting however that the building is not in danger.
Fire fighting vehicles have parked around the monastery, in case they are needed. Forty firefighters with 19 vehicles, a team of 20 men on foot, two helicopters and one aircraft are operating in the area.
The blaze is close to another fire that started earlier around the mountainous village of Santomeri in western Achaia, where 24 firemen with 12 vehicles and a team on foot are trying to put out the flames.
A third blaze is burning in the forested area Ftelia in Aetolia-Acarnania, near the village of Kallithea. The fire is so far limited in an inaccessible area over which firefighting aircraft are dropping water.
