Eight individuals were detained on Saturday night after hooded youths hurled petrol bombs towards riot police in scuffles near the main offices of extreme-right Golden Dawn party in Ambelokipi on Saturday night. According to police sources, some of the detentions will lead to arrests. 
The same group set fire to two cars and damaged an ATM nearby. The incident took place after the end of a large protest march to mark the fourth anniversary of the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas, for which a member of GD is being tried. Riot police had lined up at the corner of Mesogion and Trikalon street when the hooded individuals approached and threw three Molotovs their way. 
Members of anti-fascist groups, representatives of unions and migrants and numerous citizens participated in the event which started on Syntagma square and continued towards the offices of Golden Dawn on Mesogion Avenue, after passing from the American embassy near Mavili square. 
"Thousands of us came out in the streets to protest against GoldenDawn and to ask that its offices be shut down throughout Greece, because they are used by neo-Nazis as their base. Four years has passed since the murder of Pavlos Fyssas. Golden Dawn's trial must be completed and neo-Nazis must be jailed," the head of United Movement Against Racism and the Fascist Threat (KEERFA) Petros Konstantinou said earlier. "We want hope to dominate, not terror and despair." 
The roads in central Athens which had been closed for the march are gradually opening to traffic.
